Boy oh boy, do I have a story for you!!
Once upon a time, not too long ago and not too far away the cast of Chef & Chef and their occasional co-host “Not Chef” decided to celebrate National Donut Day in style.
We finished work early and set out to Fountain Square for the Donut Day Celebration. It started at 12p and we arrived around 20 minutes after. We quickly recorded our intro video and found a line.
We waited in line, for what seemed like forever, and when we got close to the front they were sold out! Donut stand after donut stand was starting to close down with 20 minutes still left of the event! 😭😭
Alas, Chef & Chef has never been known to shy away from adversity, we were determined to find donuts to eat—err uh I mean review. We did what we knew best and found two Cincinnati classics: Holtman’s and Graeters. We then put them head-to-head to see who truly has the best donut! 🍩
First up: Graeters
For this review we stopped by the location right on Fountain Square.
Next up, Holtman’s
We took the streetcar over to OTR to put this Cincinnati favorite to the test!!
How do they stack up?
Graeters: light fluffy dough,
Toppings are standard, not underwhelming but not reaching for the stars ⭐️ 😂
Slightly overwhelmed when choosing a donut, there were no names for the donuts. Cool open area to see back into the kitchen area.
Donuts not as light and fluffy as Graeters but their toppings were more fun.
Fruity pebbles donut was a little stale.
Bacon donut tasted like the bacon could've been executed better.
You can't really go wrong with any donut, it's fried dough covered in glaze And more sugar. But this tasting showed where each companies priorities are.
